The San Francisco Marathon is also being sponsored by Ivar Backpacks this year. Spanning 26.2 miles - with an optional half marathon race - the SF Marathon takes runners across the Golden Gate bridge, through Golden Gate Park, down the Haight, and past the SF Giant's ballpark, among other areas of the city. This event will be taking place on Sunday, August 2, 2008. This is the first time Ivar has sponsored the SF Marathon.

About The Guardsmen: Formed in 1947, this San Francisco organization contributes support and funding efforts targeting at-risk San Francisco Bay Area at-risk youths. By way of a number of educational and social programs, The Guardsmen help facilitate indoor and outdoor educational programs.
About The Ashlyn Dyer Foundation: On March 2, 2006, Ashlyn Dyer was the victim of a hit and run accident while on a morning run in the Presidio of San Francisco. She tragically passed away as a result of sever Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI). In honor of Ashlyn, the purpose of The Ashlyn Dyer Foundation is to support neurological research and to make a positive impact for others affected with TBI (Note: Over 50,000 people die for TBI each year!).
About The Ivar Backpack Company: Designer of a new backpack product line (Ivar® Brand) designed for comfort and organization delivered by way of a patented internal shelf design. The concept was created in 1998 by Ian C. Ivarson while he was a high school student in Marin County of the San Francisco Bay Area.

That's great! I saw the Ivar packs at the Presidio 10. The overall winner of the race was wearing his around, along with others wearing theirs. Great product!
